Before Christmas I did a spot of illustration and design work for the guys at a local place named
The Larderhouse. It's a place that serves great wines, craft beer, cocktails and coffee with local/seasonal food (also think charcuterie & cheeses) in a wonderfully early 1900's styled space. With a wood-fired oven in the mix and wood-burners in the backyard, we have often cycled merrily home from there with the faint and fond smell of woodsmoke in our hair. A smell that has always felt happily evocative to me.
Anyhow, the work I did for them was for a Christmas greeting that incorporated a sort of visual recipe for the Barrel aged Mince meat they'd made for use in festive treats like mince pies, christmas puddings et al.
Below is the illustration I did, and some photographs of the Barrel aged Mince meat being made. For more of their photographs and more on their Mince meat Project visit their
website, here.
